Description
This course builds on your knowledge from the AIDA 2 course to increase your breath-hold times and depth. It is designed to further develop existing skills, acquire new ones and gain higher knowledge of safety procedures and techniques.
New techniques introduced are free fall, Frenzel equalization, the use of training tables, the risks of increasing and decreasing pressure and how to minimize them. Students train these skills in the most common disciplines: static apnea, dynamic apnea, free immersion and constant weight.
Theory
- Buoyancy, proper weighting and free falling
- Physiology and equalizing, including the Frenzel technique
- Using CO2 tables to improve CO2 tolerance and performance
- Advanced safety procedures
- Pulmonary physiology and barotrauma
- Mammalian dive reflex, decompression sickness, surface intervals, freediver's code of conduct
Practical sessions
- Review of basic freedive skills — diving and finning techniques
- Thoracic stretching and visualization for deep diving
- Master Frenzel equalization and the advantages of free falling
- Improvement of static and dynamic techniques
- Rescue scenarios at depth and on the surface, including self-rescue
By the end of the course students can hold their breath at least 2:45 min, swim 55 m dynamic and perform comfortable dives between 24 and 30 meters.
Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older (16 with parent or guardian consent)
- Have completed the AIDA Medical Form
- Have completed the Liability Release
- Have completed the AIDA 2 Freediver course, or the AIDA 2 crossover evaluation if coming from another agency

- Static: 2:45 min
- Dynamic: 55 m
- Depth: 24–30 m
