Description
This intensive course allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 40 m with an independent buddy or professional guide, and teaches you not only how to improve your own diving but how to improve the safety of others.
It familiarizes students with techniques, knowledge and safety procedures for deep freediving that go beyond recreational freediving. New techniques include FRC diving, mouth-fill equalization and packing, developed across static apnea, dynamic apnea, constant weight, free immersion and variable weight. The course adds full body warm-ups and stretching, specific stretching of breathing muscles, training concepts and freediver nutrition.
An important set of skills concerns managing open water equipment: knots and braiding, setting depth on the dive line, constructing a safe bottom weight, and safe handling of bottom plates, torches and lanyards. One purpose of the course is to prepare successful candidates for the role of Assistant Instructor.
Theory covers physics (Dalton's, Boyle's and Henry's laws), decompression sickness, nitrogen narcosis, failure depth, increasing VC and decreasing RV, FRC diving, mouth-fill, packing, fitness, training and diet for freedivers.
After finishing this course you will be able to hold your breath 3:30 min static, swim 70 m dynamic with fins and dive 32 to 40 meters — with free underwater pictures and videos.
Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older (16/17 with parent or guardian consent)
- Provide a medical statement
- Have completed the AIDA 3 course, or the AIDA 3 crossover evaluation if coming from another agency
- Have completed a First Aid course with CPR within the last two years
